Youth Leadership

Recognizing the importance in empowering our students, AAAL has built a youth leadership program that is intended to assist youth with clarifying values and goals, while developing effective communication skills.

After the 2005 conference AAAL started working with youth from the Kwaanza Church, serving as mentor during the development of the curriculum for the group. The goal is to develop a replicable model that can be used for a wider number of youth.

  • Development of public speaking skills
  • Service learning projects, such as work with South African families living with AIDS.
  • Spoken word events
  • Presentation of life stories by community leaders
  • Involvement in 2007 conference.
